10 things to do in Stockholm this autumn

1) Visit Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, during the off-season.

Stockholm has been the capital of Sweden since the Middle Ages. The ancient stones of Gamla Stan tell the long story of this medieval city. It's also a modern metropolis, where Swedish architecture is at the forefront of innovation. Finally, it's a green city, where nature is ever-present. Once the tourist season is over, the city quiets down and there are far fewer people in the streets. It's the perfect time for an unusual visit to the city.

5) Take a walk in the Swedish forests in their autumn colours

Each district of Stockholm has its own garden. They are pockets of nature in the heart of the city, and they are all very beautiful. However, some are unmissable for an autumn outing:

  • The Royal Urban Park is a large natural area on the island of Djurgården. It is heavily wooded and simply stunning in autumn. Despite being close to the urban center of Stockholm, its atmosphere is quite different. It is crisscrossed by wide paths, perfect for a romantic stroll hand in hand! But it is also very pleasant for a family hike or a bike ride.
  • Nobel Park is a wooded park on the waterfront. It has an intimate feel, with its small coves. You'll appreciate the beautiful view of the marina and the constant coming and going of the boats.
  • In Solna, HagaParken is very idyllic, with charming ruins of an old castle. It's located on the shores of Lake Brunnsviken. You can stroll around the lake, under the park's large trees.
