Open from November 21 to December 22, the Stockholm Christmas Market invites you to discover the 41 chalet-shaped stalls set up in Gamla Stan every day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Treats, toys, craft creations or iconic Christmas drinks, you will love wandering the aisles of this traditional market invested with the Christmas spirit. The illuminated and decorated wooden stalls offer delicacies to savor without moderation, such as smoked sausages, reindeer or moose meat, colorful candies or sweet pastries. Treat in hand, wander around the market to discover hand-knitted sweaters with traditional ornaments, Swedish jewelry and crafts as well as high-quality decorative arts. Gamla Stan is also a light show during the holidays, sparkling with colors and illuminations installed in each of the neighborhood's cobblestone streets.

Stortorget Christmas Market, traditional recipes to taste

Christmas is one of the favorite times for gourmets who enjoy the sweets and specialties offered on the markets. The one in Sortorget is no exception to the rule and invites you to taste the typical Christmas dishes at any time of the day:


  • Glögg is a Scandinavian mulled wine or spicy spirit that warms you up on the go.
  • Pepparkaka is a tasty ginger biscuit.
  • Lussekatte is a brioche-like saffron bun that is delicious at fika time.
